World Wetlands Day 2019

The Karnataka ENVIS along with EMPRI celebrated World Wetlands Day on 2nd February 2019 as per the orders of MoEF&CC with the theme of "Wetlands and Climate Change" for the year 2019. On this occasion students from Government High School from Sarakki, Bangalore which is a NGC-Eco-club school participated in the programme. Naturalist Shri. Prasad was invited as the chief guest to share their valuable knowledge on wetlands and its biodiversity. The programme commenced with a “Nature Walk” with the participation of ENVIS, NGC, EMPRI office staff and school children from EMPRI to a nearby wetland place i.e. Puttenahalli lake, Bengaluru for creating awareness. The bird identification programme was organized to explain the importance of wetland’s day among the participants. During the nature walk students were able to spot birds with the help of the subject experts. Quiz competition were organised for the School children’s based on the wetlands day theme. School children enthusiastically participated with their innovative ideas. Prizes in the form of books and certificates were distributed to the winners.
